The vast majority of Poles are in favour of taking immunity from parliamentarians.
According to a survey by SW investigation commissioned by Onet, nearly 70% of respondents believe that MPs and senators should not be protected by immunity from criminal liability. The other opinion is somewhat more than 16 percent of respondents, while 13.7 percent of respondents do not have an opinion.
The constitutional provisions in force supply formal immunity for parliamentarians, which means that they cannot be brought to justice without the consent of the Sejm. This institution has been controversial for years and has regularly returned to public debate, especially in the context of criminal cases involving politicians and requests for the waiver of immunity.
The SW investigation survey was carried out on 9–10 December 2025 by net interviews (CAWI) on a typical example of 813 adult Poles. The results clearly point to a strong social anticipation of a regulation or complete elimination of parliamentary immunity.
