Tadej Pogacar won the Tour de France for the 5th time in his career, confirming dominance in contemporary cycling. The Slovene of UAE squad Emirates-XRG triumphed with a lead of 6 minutes and 26 seconds over Belgian Remco Evenepoel, and 3rd place was taken by his clubmate, Mexican Isaac del Toro.
The final phase in the Elysée Fields was won by Dutch Mathieu van der Poel, who after an emotional finish by centimeters overtaken by Jasper Philipsen and Mads Pedersen. Due to fires in France, the organizers shortened the final phase to 88.7 km.
Pogacar has led the general classification since the 6th phase and for 3 weeks left no illusions to rivals. In this year's edition, he won 5 stages, and 1 of the most awesome performances was the evidence driveway on L’Alpe d’Huez, where he improved the consequence of legendary Marco Pantani.
This is the Slovene's 5th triumph in 7 starts in the Tour de France. Thus, he leveled the evidence of 5 wins owned by Jacques Anquetil, Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault and Miguel Indurain. He besides has 26 phase wins in his account and is increasingly approaching Mark Cavendish's record.
Two Poles appeared in the race. Michał Kwiatkowski finished the Tour at 110th place, and Kamil Gradek was ranked 155th. The rivalry finished 158 cyclists.
