Start of the storm. Infiltration and Counterattack: Israel's First Day of War

At 6.30 a.m. on 7 October, Brigade Izz Al-Din Al-Qassam, the military wing of the HAMASU, and the allied Palestinian muslim Jihad, began an operation called the “Al-Aksa Storm” (also the flood/storm), carrying out mass infiltration outside the Gaza Strip, within Israel. The actions had been prepared for a long time, but were a complete surprise to the Israeli services, both on an operational and tactical scale.
