— The interest in going on the march is huge, I think about 5 times bigger than on the march on April 12. This strategically crucial event will be a show of strength, but besides opposition to the Tusk government – says MP Łukasz Kmita, head of the Małopolska PiS structures. “The turnout will be akin to the March of Independence,” says the MP.
As he lists, there are already 11 buses filled to leave Krakow alone. Still, he says, there are others, but any of them will go to Warsaw by trains or their own means of transport. Mobilization can be large especially due to the fact that Karol Nawrocki won the first circular of elections in Małopolska, winning 35.21 percent of the votes. Rafał Trzaskowski had 24.41 percent of them. The consequence of the Citizen Coalition candidate was better only in Kraków, Tarnów and the territory of Szrzzanowski.
However, erstwhile I call a fewer PiS activists from Małopolska to ask them what is mobilizing them to go to Warsaw on Sunday and what hopes they have with him, I get unexpected answers.
“I don’t think that’s the way”
Actor PiS No. 1: — I'm not going, but it's only due to the fact that I'm being held up by household responsibilities.
Actor PiS No 2: — I was invited for Sunday to the neighboring parish for the Jubilee celebrations. I can't go to Warsaw.
Actor PiS No 3: “I may decide at the last minute to go, but frankly, at this point I have a taste. I realize that the point is to have pictures go into the world, who gathered more people, that each side would say that her march was more numerous, but it reminds me of any tribal struggle, ritualistic. And people are tired of it. Why would Mentzen grow so large in elections?
Actor PiS No. 4: — I realize that copying Tusk's march for the same day is intended to cover the possible success of the attendance Platform. But I am not convinced that wasting energy on this march of our sympathizers, which will have a typically confrontational and provocative character will do anything. If we're going to convince the indecisive, I don't think that's the way.
“We do not want to put all our strength on Warsaw”
What the PiS politician talks about is besides unexpectedly resounding in my conversation with the activist of the Małopolska Platform, although in a somewhat different context. More than a 1000 supporters of Rafał Trzaskowski have already signed up for the journey to Warsaw by Wednesday. Autocars will leave 22 tiny Polish towns, but, as I hear, many people go to the capital by their own cars, trains, and even motorcycles.
Szczęsny Filipiak, a Malopolska councillor of the Platform and the head of the Krakow organization structures admits that the mobilisation to go to the “Patriot March” is large, but not as large as before the celebrated “Marsz of Million Hearts” which passed through Warsaw on 4 June 2023. But, says Philipiak, that is besides the plan. “ May 25 is the last Sunday of the campaign, a time erstwhile you can inactive go to smaller towns and convince people to vote in the field. It's a day to make the most of it. Therefore, we do not want to put all our strength on Warsaw, we know that there will be hundreds of thousands of Rafal supporters there, but activists are besides needed in the field – Filipiak says.
For the Małopolska Platform, apart from large cities, it is simply a very hard area to fish for votes. But there are districts like Wielicki or Kraków, where the difference in the Sunday vote between Nawrocki and Trzaskowski was the smallest. Or specified as Thinkenick, Suski, Limanovian, Nowo Sądecki, which were always called the PiS bastion. In this election, 1 in 5 people voted for Sławomir Mentzen, and this is about his voters fighting today.
Fighting for Confederate Votes
However, I hear from the activist PiS from Podhale that many of his friends are going to Warsaw on Sunday, due to the fact that mobilization in the field is no longer so important. — Podhale was and is behind the right. Although Mentzen and Braun made good results here, the decisive winner of the first circular was Karol Nawrocki. I cannot imagine the right-wing voters in the second circular betting on Rafal Trzaski, not here, I hear.
However, the politician PiS of Podkarpacia, besides considered as a bastion of her group, has a somewhat different opinion. For respective months now, however, he has been looking at how the support of right-wing voters, which Andrzej Duda almost full seized 5 years ago, present has spread out into respective candidates. “ Mobilization before the second circular is needed especially at specified a local level. Those voters didn't vote for Mentzen or Braun alternatively of Nawrock for no reason. But these reasons are besides very different. The Confederate electorate is very diverse and most likely those who consider PiS and PO to be 1 evil we will not convince, but by being so unpredictable, these voters are inactive to take over and we must do as much as possible to encourage them to vote on Nawrocki, I hear.
Two marches will pass the capital on May 25
Great march behind Poland" is to be 1 of the key elements of the final phase presidential run by Karol Nawrocki. The convention was scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. The participants of the march are to go from the roundabout de Gaulle through Nowy Świat and Krakowskie Przedmieście to Zamkowy.
Announced earlier by the leaders of the Civic Coalition "Great Patriot March" was initially scheduled to take place before the first round, on 11 May. The decision was changed on 1 April.
The march was registered at the office on May 5. Officially, it is to start on Sunday, May 25, at 11 am, although its participants are to leave Bankowa Square, that is, in front of the Capital Town Hall, in which Rafał Trzaskowski serves all day, at noon. They will then go to the Constitution. Officially, the demonstration is scheduled to end at 6 p.m.
