The referendum in Piotrków will not take place. Formal errors in the collection of signatures disqualified the citizens' initiative.
An announcement was published on the National Election Office website this afternoon. We print its contents in full with attachments.
On 9 February 2023, the Electoral Commissioner in Piotrków Trybunalski was informed of the notification of a group of citizens, residents of Piotrków Trybunalski, acting under the name: Piotrków Trybunalski Referendum ’23, of the intention to hold a referendum on the dismissal of the City president Piotrków Trybunalski Krzysztof Chojniak.
The notification was received by the City president on 9 February 2023. The typical of the initiative group is Mr Agnieszka Karolina Chojnacka.
On 23 March 2023, the Electoral Commissioner in Piotrków Trybunalski was asked to hold a municipal referendum on the cancellation of the City president Piotrków Trybunalski before the end of his word of office.
On 20 April 2023, the Electoral Commissioner in Piotrków Trybunalski issued a resolution on the request of residents to hold a municipal referendum on the dismissal of the City president Piotrków Trybunalski Krzysztof Chojniak before the end of his word of office.
The organisers are entitled to a complaint against the Commissioner's decision, but it is unlikely, even if it is submitted, that the Provincial Administrative Court has challenged the decision.
