The announcement of the end?
This message was made during the “Guest of Events” program, which refers to the words of associate Artur Dziambor, a candidate for Parliament from the 3rd Way list. The main subject of the discussion was the global controversy concerning the Polish embargo on Ukrainian cereals.
Dziambor criticized the government for its mindless opinion, conducting social support for Ukrainians in Poland. Peter Müller, on the another hand, stated:
Nothing is given permanently, just for the duration of the ongoing armed conflict.
Following the decision of the European Commission, Prime Minister @MorawieckiM he clearly stated at the gathering in Ełk that Poland would extend the embargo to Ukrainian cereals.
— Piotr Müller (@PiotrMuller) September 15, 2023
The politician besides recalled that the rules are temporary and expire at the beginning of next year. At the moment, the decision to extend the provisions of that act has not yet been adopted. Müller is certain that this extension will not happen. However, he did not specify which circumstantial provisions of the Act were afraid and what benefits the Ukrainian refugees would lose.
Is that even possible?
In addition to the deficiency of precision on the horizon, there is another obstacle that Peter Müller did not mention.
Prof. Witold Klaus in an interview for OKO.press estimated that the government spokesman's message appeared to be very vague. On the basis of this, it cannot be concluded with certainty that the rules on temporary protection will cease to apply. Klaus points out that only the European Commission can take a final decision on this matter. The peculiar Assistance Act for Ukrainian citizens, which provides support for refugees, is partially regulated by the EU Time Protection Directive.

It provides the right to stay in the EU for a period of 12 months (18 months in Poland) and the right to work and to do business and the anticipation to get the PESEL number. The second is absolutely essential to be able to handle authoritative matters or get a prescription from a doctor.
Klaus besides believes that the ombudsman's declaration is part of the election game. The government thus wants to delight a group of voters, who do not support Ukrainians' stay in Poland. This way, the PiS can keep their voices or win fresh ones.
More balanced words on TVP

The politician presented the current legal situation: it is not possible to import Ukrainian grain to Poland, that is, to unload it in our territory and sale it here.
At the same time, however, Ukrainian cereals can pass transit through our country to go further. Müller added that the Polish authorities do not intend to block the transit of Ukrainian grain through Poland, but import is blocked as it poses a threat to the safety and stableness of the Polish agricultural market.
