Yesterday at the Terespol-Brześć border crossing, Minister of Interior and Administration Mariusz Kamiński informed during the press briefing about the changes ahead – including the ban on driving cars and building an electronic dam on the Bug River.
Prohibition entered into force on September 17
Starting today, fresh restrictions on the purchase, import and transfer to the European Union (EU) of cars and another motor vehicles, which are mostly utilized for the carriage of 10 or more persons, including passenger-cars of a wagon kind and racing vehicles, if they originate in Russia or were exported from Russia, have entered into force.
In order to identify the origin of the vehicle from Russia, it is crucial to registry it in this country and have Russian registration plates. If specified vehicles with Russian registration appear at the Polish borders from today, they will be sent back to a country outside the EU from which they were imported, regardless of the driver's nationality, whether it is simply a citizen of the Russian Federation or otherwise.
This regulation is due to Council Regulation (EU) No 833/2014 of 31 July 2014 concerning restrictive measures in relation to Russia's actions leading to destabilisation of the situation in Ukraine. This is part of the EU's consequence to events in Ukraine and aims to put force on Russia in the context of these actions.
These restrictions are part of a wider set of sanctions that the EU has introduced in consequence to Russia's actions in Ukraine, with the aim of limiting Russia's access to the EU marketplace in circumstantial economical sectors, including transport. It is 1 of the tools for exerting force on Russia and promoting stableness in Ukraine and the region.
Dam on the Bug River
Minister Mariusz Kamiński announced that the Border defender had taken steps to build an electronic dam along the Bug River, which extends on the border with Belarus. Information about this tender was published on Friday, September 15 of that year. The Minister of Interior and Administration stressed that this initiative is another component of a complex set of sanctions that are being introduced against Russia and its citizens as a consequence to the brutal war in Ukraine.
The electronic dam to be built on the Bug River is crucial in the context of securing the Polish border, especially in the context of the situation in east areas. This advanced device aims to strengthen border traffic control, especially in the border area with Belarus. This is simply a step towards expanding the safety of the country and protecting its territorial integrity.
The decision to build an electronic barrier is an expression of Poland's firmness in efforts to advance stableness of the region and support Ukraine in the face of hard situations. It is besides part of the broader efforts to keep peace and safety in the area of east Europe. Furthermore, this investment is crucial in the context of preventing possible risks of illegal border crossing and uncontrolled movement of persons and goods across national borders.
The construction of an electronic firewall is an expression of Poland's determination to effectively safe the border and control traffic on it, which will contribute to strengthening the safety of the country and protection against possible threats. This besides proves that Poland is ready to take concrete steps to advance stableness in the region and to express solidarity with neighbouring countries, including Ukraine.
