The ball, which Diego Maradona scored the celebrated goal "with God's hand" during the 1986 Mundial, was auctioned in Dallas for $3.35 million. The subject is considered 1 of the most valuable artifacts in football history.
The ball was held by Tunisian justice Ali Bin Naser for over 30 years. In 2023 he confirmed that it was the only ball utilized in the meeting. A year earlier, he sold it for $2.37 million.
The organizers of this year's auction hoped that the legendary artifact would go under the hammer for a much higher amount – the value of the ball was estimated at as much as $10 million. Maradona's shirt from the same gathering was sold in 2022 for $9.3 million.
