This is simply a very important, busy, unique and beautiful time for us. We rediscover the character and message of Blessed George. To those who visit the Memorial Chamber of Fr Jerzy Popiełuszko in Suchowola we effort to present the figure of our parishioner as full as possible and as best as possible, familiarize them with his résumé, present little known biographical facts, show the places where he stayed or convey the meaning of his teaching. Who visits the Memorial home of Fr Jerzy Popiełuszko?
We host many organized groups and individual pilgrims from Poland, but besides from abroad. It is beautiful that there are not only adults among pilgrims, but besides young people. And it is to them that we are trying to convey the communicative of Fr George. Pilgrims are accompanied by a reflection on the life of this steadfast priest and his message. Fr Jerzy is simply a symbol for many people, for pilgrims visiting the Memorial home of Fr Jerzy Popiełuszko, which exists at the parish in Suchola, not through violence, but through love and forgiveness. In his form they see the most beautiful evidence of Christian love, courage and steadfastness. Just due to the fact that he was always himself, his mission was perfect, he was not afraid of anything. In what he was doing was authentic, it attracted people in his life and inactive attracted, after his death. Pilgrims visiting our home give thanks to God for Father George, for his life devoted to the service of the Truth. They pray for the canonization of the Blessed One, worshiping the exhibits in the House. They sign up for the Memorial Book.
Do pilgrims share their evidence with you?
Yes, there are certificates. I've heard them many times. It's very individual and touching. any even decision distant from the group to share in silence the graces received by the Blessed One. Almost everyone leaves their requests in a box of intent in our church. Many pilgrims mention Holy Masses for Homeland celebrated by Fr Jerzy, many funerals of the priest in whom they attended personally. These are unforgettable and touching moments. His evidence continues. Conversion, revival of religion and hope, I hear and observe all this, guided by groups of pilgrims.
How do you mention Blessed George?
I remember Fr. George from his memories. He studied in Warsaw, his visits to the household sites were usually short, but always came whenever he could, even for a short time. The service that he has for the parish, the chance to guide pilgrims, is simply a large joy for me, a grace and a challenge at the same time. I effort to do my best. I very much appreciate individual contact with pilgrims, sometimes not only I speak, but besides them. And that's very valuable.
