A drunk Ukrainian citizen was fleeing a transportation truck from police officers. Now he's in jail

Police from Opole Lublinski stopped after a fewer miles of pursuit of a 29-year-old Ukrainian citizen who was driving a transportation truck under the influence of alcohol. A man had previously lost his driver's licence for akin wrongdoing. Now he's facing 5 years in prison.

Escape from traffic control

On Thursday afternoon, road traffic officers in Opole Lublin noticed a transportation company whose driver and passengers did not wear seat belts. Uniforms have decided to halt the vehicle for inspection. Initially, the driver slowed down, however, erstwhile a police officer approached the car, he abruptly moved, starting a dangerous escape towards the city bypass.

Dangerous pursuit with halt

The police immediately undertook a pursuit that lasted for respective minutes. The driver was moving at excessive speed, posing a threat to another traffic participants. Eventually, the fugitive abandoned the car in the village of Bear large and tried to run on foot, but was rapidly stopped.

Drunk driver without a driving licence

A breathalyst survey showed a 29-year-old over 0.5-promile alcohol in the body. In addition, it turned out that the man did not have the right to drive – he besides lost it earlier for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Even 5 years in prison

The Ukrainian was incarcerated in police custody and will shortly face trial. He is accused, among others, of:

  • driving an intoxicated vehicle,
  • no driving licences,
  • failure to halt for roadside inspection,
  • carriage of passengers without safety belts,
  • the hazard posed by road traffic.

For these actions he is facing punishment for 5 years imprisonment, a advanced fine and a long-term ban on driving.

Summary

This is another case where an alcoholic driver poses a road hazard, ignoring erstwhile penalties. The police remind us that specified conduct is severely punished, and that intoxicated drivers are a deadly danger to others.
