Radosław Piesiewicz was detained in the Zondacrypto investigation on 27 August, the CBA detained six people in the case of EUR 900,000 flood aid, and the government demanded at least EUR 250 million from the European Commission for the Meta. For Poles, the common stake is the efficiency of the state and fair settlement of all case.
Piesiewicz detained in the Zondacrypto case
Officers of the Central Bureau for the Fight of Cybercrime detained Radosław Piesiewicz, president of the Polish Olympic Committee on Thursday. They acted on orders from the Katowice Department of the National Prosecutor's Office. After the detention, the police reserved that the function of Piesiewicz's trial and possible charges would be decided by the prosecutor.
Virtual Poland and TVN24 previously described Piesiewicz's relation with Przemysław Kralem, head of Zondacrypto. Their findings included an costly watch and another gifts. Piesiewicz claims he paid for the watch. State of proceedings and presumption of innocence must stay more crucial than political comments and media judgments.
The case needs a hard explanation, due to the fact that it concerns the man who is at the head of PKOl and a company associated with sponsorship of Polish sport. However, it does not give the right to prejudge guilt before presenting evidence and judging the court. The State is to conduct proceedings, not produce a spectacle.
Six detentions and EUR 900 000 flood aid
The Central Anti-corruption Office has officially reportedthat six people were detained in Lower Silesia on August 26. Among them were representatives of the companies investigated and were a high-ranking authoritative of the Krkonoše Regional improvement Agency. The proceedings shall be supervised by the EPPO.
The investigation concerns a suspicion of fraud linked to the payment of EUR 900 000 to entrepreneurs affected by the flood of 2024. The CBA reported that the detainees heard allegations of grant fraud and the usage of false statements in obtaining loans. The D.A. has requested the temporary arrest of 3 suspects. The others were placed under police supervision and property guarantees. Everyone benefits from the presumption of innocence.
According to unofficial findings of the WP, 1 of the men was escorted by the service from the plane at the airport in Wrocław. More crucial than an awesome halt image is the money flow. Previous arrangements for millions for KARR-related companies They showed why the case was so angry. The aid was intended for people and entrepreneurs affected by the nature. Any gold defrauded from this strategy would mean little money for those who have truly lost their track record.
Poland demands punishment for Meta
Deputy Prime Minister and Digital Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski formally requested the European Commission to impose a punishment of at least EUR 250 million on Meta Platforms. The reason is not adequate reaction of the Facebook and Instagram owners to fraudulent ads.
The data cited in the request show that out of 122 advertisements submitted by CERT Polska Meta removed 10 and in six cases did not reply. A dispute with Meta and the problem of protection of Polish users It's been going on a long time. It is good that the government demands the work of a powerful platform. It is worse that Poland must ask the European Commission to usage tools which it cannot usage on the basis of the EU Digital Services Act.
One Test for State
Three things are different, but each 1 checks whether institutions can defend the citizen. In the Zondacrypto investigation, evidence is needed without political direction. Flood recovery and settlement of those liable are important. The dispute with Meta is about the safety of savings of Poles exposed to fraudulent advertisements.
The strong state does not measurement the effectiveness of the number of conferences and detentions in front of cameras. It measures it with valid decisions, recoveries and the protection of the citizen. This bill cannot be suppressed by the government on any tv show of the day.
