First shooting with Carl Gustaf

On 17-18 September, soldiers of the WOT Training Center carried out the first combat firing from the grenade launcher Carl Gustaf. The shootings took place in Nowa Dęba as part of the "Fire Storm '25" exercise, which is part of the largest task of the Polish SZ – "Iron Defender '25" this year.

As part of 2 days of training classes, CSWOT territorials conducted shootings with a modern grenade launcher for a distance of respective 100 metres. This was the first combat shooting of the grenade launcher Carl Gustaf by soldiers of the Territorial defence Army in Poland, and all missiles launched eliminated the indicated targets.

The “Fire Storm exercise” was an perfect chance to test the skills gained so far during the planned combat task. The grenade launcher is very awesome – both in terms of accuracy and firepower. We felt responsibility, but besides pride that we could practice on the equipment of this class and gain experience that could actually translate into the safety of our country," said the CSWOT soldier participating in the exercise.

The Carl Gustaf M4 grenade launcher is simply a multi-tasking, reusable jet-free grenade launcher. It is 1 of the most popular fire support systems in the planet that allows you to shoot targets at a distance of respective 100 to up to 2 kilometres. In 2024, the Ministry of National Defence purchased 6000 grenade launchers along with respective 100 1000 pieces of ammunition for usage by the Polish Army, and the training of its operators is carried out, among another things, at the Training Centre of the Territorial Defence Army.

The exercises “Iron Defender-25” is simply a federation of maneuvers of the Polish Army and NATO allies held in September 2025. They are defensive in nature and service to test defence readiness and interoperability of land, air, sea and cyberspace forces. respective twelve soldiers take part in the exercises. It is simply a real training that increases the efficiency and combat readiness of soldiers, so that they can support the local community at any time - not only during conflict but besides in crisis situations.
