Pete Hegseth will yet become US Secretary of defence in president Donald Trump's second administration. After an over-extended political conflict around the legislature (US Congress) vote, the presidential candidate obtained an approval to take office, obtaining 51 votes in favour, up to 50 votes against (25 January 2025). The decision was made by Vice-President J.D. Vance, who is vice-president in the Senate, and it was up to him to find the result of the final gameplay in the event of equal distribution of senatorial votes. It is worth noting that the 3 Republicans voted against this nomination, specifically Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins, as well as Mitch McConnell. It should be remembered that, after the last election, Republicans have an advantage in the legislature and the home of Representatives for the next 2 years. However, the said majority did not translate into ease in obtaining advice and legislature approval in the case of a candidate for Secretary of Defense. Earlier, the vote on Marco Rubio as a candidate for Secretary of State ended with a score of 99 in favor, 0 against.
