Samuel Pereira was convicted by a final conviction for defaming his mother's politician Krzysztof Brejza. The decision has sparked considerable controversy, and the Press Freedom Monitoring Centre calls for the president to make a pardon.

About the fact that erstwhile Vice-President of the tv Information Agency Samuel Pereira was legally convicted of defamation of Krzysztof Brejza's mother, informed the Virtualmedia.pl website.

The case refers to an article published in 2019 on TVP Info. Pereira accused Alexander Breiza of instructing local activists in how they should slander political opponents on the Internet.

The Nawrocks will pardon Pereira?

The Polish Press Freedom Monitoring Centre, operating at the Association of Journalists, expressed a strong protest against the sentence. "It violates the rule of freedom of expression and the right to inform the public about public matters", concluded.

The CMWP besides announced that it would ask president Karol Nawrocki to pardon Samuel Pereira. “The conviction of Samuel Pereira violates the rule of freedom of speech and agrees with 1 of the foundations of the legal order of the Republic of Poland”, added the argument.
