In the Polish political scene, cooperation in the 3rd Way – the alliance of Poland 2050 and the Polish People's organization – was formally terminated. However, the decision does not mean a political conflict, but a change in the strategy of both groups. Poland 2050 intends to act independently from now on, building its own programme and election identity. The coalition, which was tactical in nature and was bound for concrete elections, came to an end – both parties agree that they achieved their objectives.
Third Road – Election Project
The 3rd Road was established in 2023 as a joint initiative of Poland 2050 and PSL, aimed at creating an alternate to the political duo PO-PiS. The task was strictly electoral, as the politicians of both groups remind us. For fresh months, the coalition has operated both in the Sejm and in the Senate, where there is inactive a joint club of 12 senators.
W The parliament's cooperation was based on 2 separate clubs: Poland 2050-TD and PSL-TD, 32 MPs each. Thanks to the joint launch, the formation managed to cross the electoral threshold and introduce a representation that had a real impact on the creation of the current government majority.
Poland 2050 chooses its own way
The decision to complete the joint task was first communicated by Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz, Minister of Funds and Regional Policy. On Platform X, she announced a fresh phase of her formation, announcing a policy based on her own priorities. Poland 2050 intends to advance social housing, management of State Treasury companies in a professional way, as well as independency from organization influences in public media.
In turn, Vice-Marshal of the legislature Maciej Żywno pointed out that the decision was not due to tensions or conflicts, but to a natural change in the expression of cooperation. He stressed that in many regions the relation between the 2 groups was different and that differences in approach to any issues were inevitable.
PSL prepares to launch on its own
The PSL did not issue a formal resolution on the separation, but the message of the organization spokesperson Miłosz Motyka shows that the group is preparing to run independently in subsequent elections. It was the discussion among the organization activists that was to be an impulse for the decision of Poland 2050 to leave the coalition format.
In his statement, the leader of Poland 2050, Szymon Hołownia, stressed that the cooperation was loyal, and that the completion of the common road took place in an atmosphere of understanding. "Trust and loyalty are the foundations of politics," he said.
A common past, different visions of the future
Although both parties have achieved their stated election goal, their further political plans are spreading. Poland 2050 wants to place a clear programme identity and avoid compromises resulting from coalition arrangements. Similarly, PSL, as the oldest political organization in Poland, plans to fight for electoral support, without sharing votes with its partner.
However, this does not mean the end of all cooperation – as announced by Maciej Żywno, the coalition can proceed to operate at local government level, where local political agreements are little dependent on national strategies.
New beginning in the centre electorate
The breakdown of the 3rd Way is simply a signal of change on the centre political scene. The formations that have so far formed a common front will now compete for voters' votes separately. From the position of Poland 2050, it is an chance to build a stronger position as an independent political force. For PSL – return to a traditional, agrarian and conservative electoral base.
Ultimately, the success of these decisions will be assessed by voters. The polls indicate that the 3rd Road balances at the electoral threshold – for the coalition it is 8%, and in the case of independent parties it is lower due to the fact that it is 5 percent. The choice of a self-start can so be both an chance and a risk.

The completion of the 3rd Way task is simply a natural consequence of the political ambitions of both groups. Poland 2050 and PSL decide to go their own way to build a strong and expressive position on the political stage. A common past may be the foundation for future points of cooperation, but now both parties focus on developing their own visions of Poland's development.
