Once again, we are faced with the most crucial elections in which we must one more time settle fundamental matters concerning the future of Poland in the European Union and in NATO. And it seemed that we already had that, that there was a national consensus on these issues. Not at all: we are inactive profoundly divided, and between us we are unburdened ditch of polarization.
In fact, during the campaign, there was a deficiency of substantive discussion, due to the fact that what can be said in a minute? We lacked large visions of the state, programs, tasks for the president. The most crucial subject of fresh days was Karol Nawrocki's apartment. The impudent hucpa of the PiS candidate was striking in the eye, but that should not be the core of the discussion! There have been no serious discussions about women's rights, the situation of immigrants, discipline and culture, about taxes, partnerships and judicial reform. On the another hand, even if the candidates wanted to tell us about their ideas (if they have them), the prerogatives of the president of Poland are very limited. We remember that he is simply a “watchman of the chandelier”. According to the Constitution, his tasks come down to defence and abroad affairs. He can give orders, apply the law of grace, appoint judges, or appoint ambassadors. The president can be a brake and veto bill, but he can besides take legislative initiatives and not interfere with the implementation of good law.
This run has shown that we have no luck with candidates. Only a fewer of them deserved to stand in electoral lines. The right-wing parties put out second suits, and the worst of them turned out to be the PiS candidate; he lied about housing, mating, filming and keying, avoided clear answers to questions, although the PiS voters did not mind, due to the fact that he was anointed by Jarosław Kaczynski himself. Aren't there people with character on the right? In turn Confederate candidate Sławomir Mentzen had a good start, an even better means, but in the end he was short of breath – it turned out that riding a scooter requires good condition. The remainder of the right-wing candidates repeated nationalist and anti-Semitic slogans or proclaimed love for Putin. Krzysztof Stanowski, a man with 2 Janus faces, noted his presence on the stage: writer and politician. erstwhile he entered the station's alien studio, he became a politician, and erstwhile he sat in his studio, he played the function of journalist. Stanowski played what he wanted; he yet gained from the run his channel due to the fact that he had free advertising for public money and large-scale broadcasts.
All in all, from this first run we will remember Nawrocki's flats, Mentzen's scooter, the debate in Koński, the 2 flags (one white-red and the another rainbow), Stanowski's happenings, Trzaskowski's fatigue, Biejat and Zandberg's dynamism, and the superb mots of red corals – Senyszyn. It's not worth talking about candidate programs, due to the fact that not many people cared about them.
