For many years, an energy lump sum has been paid, the rules for which are laid down in Article 20(2)(3) of the Act of 24 January 1991 on Combatants and certain persons who are victims of war repression and of the post-war period.
The energy lump sum increased in 2025. Who can get it?
The title itself suggests who can number on specified support. However, the number of beneficiaries of the energy lump sum is wider. Below is simply a list of persons entitled to receive it from ZUS:
combatants,
persons who have been recognised as victims of war repression and post-war periods,
former soldiers of alternate military service who were forced to work in coal mines, uranium ore mining facilities, quarries or construction battalions,
widows and widowers of persons belonging to any of the said groups.
As of 1 March 2025, this benefit, like another allowances, was increased. Its current value is PLN 312.71 gross per month, which is almost PLN 13 more than before.
Portal samorozadowa.pl informs that "energy lump sum is not subject to taxation, which means that eligible persons receive the full amount of support". This benefit is besides inherited by spouses of entitled persons.
When determining the right to benefit, the financial situation of the applicant shall not be analysed, either by a individual with low or advanced income. However, the condition is to submit an appropriate application.

Decision of the Head of the Office for Combatants and Represented Persons, establishing periods of command or repression in the case of combatants and repressed persons, confirming the powers as a associate of the household after the commandant in the case of widows or widowers,
a certificate of the Military Complementary Command confirming the period and kind of forced employment in the alternate military service, in the case of soldiers who are forced to work,
a certificate of the competent military authority, in the case of widows of forced soldiers.
"Social Insurance Institution transfers benefit together with pension or pension of eligible persons. Payment shall take place within the same period as the basic pension benefit. Beneficiaries may receive funds through bank transfer or cash. The money does not go straight to energy suppliers – each authorized individual decides how to usage it" - the portal forsal.pl provided.
In addition to the energy lump sum itself, eligible persons may besides apply for another forms of monetary support. These have besides grown since March. The most frequently paid are:
Kombatant supplement – PLN 330.07 per month,
compensation allowance – PLN 49.51 per month,
provision for erstwhile military alternate soldiers – PLN 330.07 per month,
provision for people deported to forced labour – from PLN 16.55 to PLN 330.07 per month.
In addition, the Office for Combatants offers the chance to apply for reimbursement of treatment costs and acquisition medical equipment.
