The Constitutional Court ruling works
Before changing the legal situation in Poland in 2020, about a 1000 abortions were performed annually due to the disability or illness of the child. According to data provided by the Ministry of Health, 1076 legally acceptable abortion treatments were conducted in 2020. In 2021, after the publication of the Constitutional Court ruling, there were only 107 specified treatments. In 2022 161 legal abortions were performed in Poland, all of which were motivated by the threat of life or mother's health. Data on the number of abortions performed in Poland in 2023 will not be available until the mediate of this year.
