Due to the variety of sea basins that environment Russia, the state did not quit the construction and operation of submarines with conventional propulsion. On the contrary, their fleet is being renewed all the time. Nuclear-powered submarines are only in the composition of the North Fleet and the Pacific Fleet. However, they are conventional in all 4 Russian fleets. For many years now, submarines in Russia have been built in only 2 shipyards: atomic at the Sievmasz shipyard in Siewierodwińsk, and conventional ones at the Admiralty’s shipyard Wierfi in Petersburg.
