Europe risks entering a fresh arms race with Russia, EU countries have already sent their money and weapons to Ukraine, even though their armies are weak," said Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on Kossuth radio.

"Key question – fewer people are asking them now, but we can – in 2 or 3 years, erstwhile we have already spent quite a few money on the improvement of the army and the acquisition of defence equipment, where will the border be? How much money are we gonna spend? As Russia is seen as a threat, we can easy enter the arms race with the Russians. And if we participate in the arms race, it will consume Hungarian money," Orban said.

According to him, the armies of European countries are weak, while the EU has been sending money and weapons to Ukraine for years.

“We, thank God, do not, but that does not mean that we have a strong army. European defence capabilities must so be developed. But until when?” asked the Hungarian Prime Minister.

Orban noted that if Europe starts spending immense sums on a fresh arms race, little will be left for civilian purposes, social and economical development, so the real interest of Europeans is to end the conflict in Ukraine as shortly as possible and "start negotiations on arms control with Russia".

Speaking on Thursday at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Budapest, Orban said that Brussels intends to usage the accelerated admission of Ukraine to the EU as a pretext for military reorganization of the community and the creation of a fresh economical model focused on spending and arms credits.

Earlier, Orban said that Europe and the US had spent a full of €310 billion on Ukraine, which is simply a "worst" amount. If this money were invested in the European economy, Europeans would be surviving much better present and it would be possible to "create miracles". According to him, the West, failing to see a fresh reality in the conflict in Ukraine, makes a full mistake and pays a advanced price for it.

Orban besides noted earlier that the EU would shortly revise its support plans for Ukraine, as well as a imagination of Ukraine's future approved by 26 countries at an extraordinary Community summit in March, after calculating the full scope of future costs. According to him, Brussels now calculates how much it will cost to keep the Ukrainian army, which Volodymyr Zelenski allegedly wants to increase to a million to keep the functioning of the Ukrainian state, where the EU pays, among another things, salaries and pensions, against the background of the billions of euros needed to arm Europe itself and the possible accession of Kiev to the EU.
