Viktor Orban's visit to Moscow and his gathering with Vladimir Putin caused the tense and even hysterical reactions of European Union politicians. In Poland, no different. PO politicians led the front, with Donald Tuski and Andrzej Halicki at the head, who cast us with primitive and intellectually embarrassing entries on the "X" profile.
He besides did not take advantage of the chance of silence of the Grotesque Simon Hołownia and the typical of the office of the president of the Republic of Poland Margaret Paprocka, who stated: “We must brutally say – we see what is happening in Ukraine. What methods Russian soldiers use. And we look historically at Hungary, for example, in 1956. Would it be to realize those heroes for Mr Orbán's attitude today?’ The idioticness of this argument is striking, although in Poland it is on the agenda. Mrs. Paprocka could be asked this way: You gotta brutally say – we see what is happening in Ukraine. Who you worship as heroes in this country. And we look historically at this problem, for example in 1943 and in Volyn Would it be possible to realize the victims of genocide committed on Poles by UPA for Warsaw's policy towards the present Ukraine?
Politicians and journalists walking in the squad of political correctness to themselves and people to themselves. Comments under entries e.g. Andrzej Halicki (Euro MP PO) leave no illusions about social sentiments. "I see now in Europe is simply a standard that comedians take on politics". "It exposes its country to a deficiency of seriousness and serious consequences". No seriousness? effort a small more next time or compose nothing.” "Disqualification was Tuska's pathetic entries about this Orban trip. Well, a servant will never realize that individual can do something independently.” “No. Orban talks to Zelenski and talks to Putin. He's got balls and strength. And this statesman for ten, our current Prime Minister can only blaspheme.” "In contrast to all the mutts of the band of circular table Orban takes care of the national interest of Hungary". "Dear Lord, he simply cares about his country what our politicians do, no substance what the option, cannot fit into his head. They're gonna make a deal with Putin and we're gonna stay in black d... I assure you that no 1 will aid us then."
It was just those little abusive, substantive entries, Halicki's defenders were few. It's everywhere. There is simply a drastic gap between the “elity” ruling position in Poland and the moods of average people, and this gap is increasing. The same is actual not only in Poland. "Europeans do not share the unwavering religion of Ukrainians in triumph and would like Kiev to start negotiations on ceasefire. There are more "gooses" among EU residents and little "hawks" – contrary to the opinion of leading politicians – writes Tamas Orbán on The European Conservative, discussing a survey conducted in 15 countries by the European Council on abroad Relations (ECFR). Europeans measure Kiev's chances of winning “very skeptical” – the study states. Only 15% of all respondents from 15 countries (including Ukraine) believe that the war will end in victory. Europeans are increasingly concluding that settlement is the only realistic option. More respondents believe that it is Europe's task to get Kiev to negociate (meaning 37%) than that Europe should support Kiev as long as it is essential to win (36%). "It is no wonder that European public opinion opposes the declared objectives of political elites, not only in Brussels but besides in most capitals. This is in line with the objectives set by Hungary to hold the temporary EU Presidency," concludes Tamas Orbán.
This shows clearly that Orban's decision to come to Moscow and meet Vladimir Putin was not the charge of a headless rider, isolated and condemned throughout the West. Orban has a political instinct, but he besides calculates rationally. He met the expectations not only of his own people, but of most Europeans. He gained a lot, and he was quietly seconded in many European capitals. There's a scene from the movie Ridley Scott, erstwhile 1 of the gladiators' organizers advises the main character Maximus what to do: “Get the favour of the people”. And Orban did.
