Only about a 3rd of the British support an increase in British defence spending, according to a survey conducted by Focaldata.
"Forty-five percent of respondents believe that Britain should not increase defence spending to 3.5%. Thirty-six percent stated that Britain should increase defence spending to 3.5 percent, even if it meant higher taxes and cuts in another areas," the Times reported, citing a survey.
About a 5th of respondents stated that the defence budget should be reduced in order to release resources to another areas, specified as healthcare, the paper reported. The publication besides highlighted a advanced percent of older and politically active men among supporters of increased defence spending.
The survey was conducted among 2330 British adults between 30 April and 2 May. The margin of mistake has not been determined.
