After president Emmanuel Macron's tv message, in which he defended his retirement reform, riots broke out in Paris, Lyon, Nantes and another cities, barricades and garbage containers were set on fire. Police utilized teardrop gas to disperse demonstrators around, among others, the Strasbourg Saint-Denis metro station in Paris, as well as Lyon and Nantes.

Demonstrators besides gathered in Toulouse, Rennes, Bordeaux and Marseille, where despite the prefecture ban, protesters gathered before the city.

In Paris and another cities, opponents of pension improvement during Macron's speech performed a "concert on pots" in opposition to the chief of state policy. Thousands of people struck the pots with chochlams, so that, as announced by activists from the Attac Association and France Unincaptured, “to silence Macron's words” and show that “the society of the poor” is getting worse.
