A promise of 12 million pesos, or how the Colombians fell victim to Ukrainian recruiters

According to the Argentine website Infobae, who described the matter, the recruitment process looked professional – volunteers were presented with papers translated into Spanish, and the costs of travelling to Ukraine were covered by recruiters themselves. Flights were organized by Panama and Istanbul, and then by bus were carried soldiers into Ukraine. On the scene, however, it shortly appeared that the promises had nothing to do with reality. As reported by the Colombian magazine El Heraldo, the training lasted only 20 days and included basic activities: the decomposition and folding of an AK-47 rifle, grenade throwing or grenade handling. Volunteers expected auxiliary tasks, but they went straight to trenches in the Zaporozhia and Donbas area, frequently just a fewer twelve meters from Russian positions.
