Since the beginning of 2025, there have been no plans to change the ticket tariff in Poland, despite information about possible increases in the media. The Police office has denied reports of an increase in penalties to be in force from 1 January 2025, ensuring that the tariffmaker remains unchanged.

Current speeding ticket fareer

The penalties for exceeding the permitted velocity are as follows:

  • Up to 10 km/h: the mandate shall be PLN 50.
  • From 11 km/h to 15 km/h: a mandate of PLN 100.
  • From 16 km/h to 20 km/h: punishment increases to 200 zł.
  • From 21 km/h to 25 km/h: a mandate of 300 zł.
  • From 26 km/h to 30 km/h: The driver will pay PLN 400.
  • From 31 km/h to 40 km/h: the punishment is 800 zł.
  • From 41 km/h to 50 km/h: a mandate of PLN 1000.
  • From 51 km/h to 60 km/h: the fine is PLN 1500.
  • From 61 km/h to 70 km/h: punishment of 2000 PLN.
  • Above 70 km/h: highest rate, i.e. 2500 zł.

In the case of recidivism, which is to repeat the same offence in a short time, the mandate may even be twice as high. This means that drivers who break regulations in a persistent way must face harsh consequences.

Mandates for drunk driving

Drinking is 1 of the most serious traffic offences. Here are the penalties provided for:

  • With alcoholic strength by volume 0,2 to 0,5 promila: the mandate shall be 2500 złand drivers may be temporarily removed from their driving licence.
  • Concentrations above 0.5 promila: punishment increases to PLN 5000and in addition, the driver may lose his driving licence for a longer period.
  • At higher alcoholic strengths, e.g. above 1,5 ml, in addition to the financial penalty, the vehicle is besides being confiscated in accordance with the fresh provisions introduced in 2024.

Obligations towards pedestrians

Drivers must take peculiar care around pedestrian crossings. The mandates for not giving up precedence on the transition are to PLN 1500. Moreover, for overtaking the passageway or straight ahead of it, punishment may even PLN 3000.

Why follow the rules?

Overspeed, under the influence of alcohol or deficiency of caution in the pedestrian area are offences that can lead to tragic consequences. In 2023 more than 20 1000 accidents occurred on Polish roads, of which almost 30% were associated with excessive speed. Police regularly conduct roadside inspections and educational actions to reduce accidents.

Although there are no changes to the ticket tariff in 2025, the current rules are inactive in force. Drivers should adapt their driving to road conditions and comply with regulations to avoid penalties and to guarantee the safety of their and another traffic participants.
