Since 1 September, the Department of global Cooperation and Polish Heritage has been operating in the MKiDN for the Border, liable for the hotel search and exhumation. The reorganization is to accelerate the recognition of victims of the Volyn crime. For Poland, however, the test will be found remains, worthy of burial and permanent commemoration, alternatively than changing the authoritative structure itself.
One centre of responsibility
The Ministry of Culture and National Heritage informed on Tuesday about the creation of a fresh Department of global Cooperation and Polish Heritage abroad. The unit has been operating since 1 September and is to be liable for all processes conducted by the ministry in matters of search and exhumation. According to the Ministry, the reorganization involves intensifying work on finding, extracting and identifying victims of the Volyn crime.

The State has a work to the murdered
Exhumation is not a method addition to diplomacy. It's a basic work to the murdered and their families. The Polish state should consistently search to establish burial sites, conduct investigation and commemorate victims. Without that word of reconciliation, they stay suspended over nameless graves.
The fresh department so receives a task beyond the current administration. It must combine abroad cooperation with defence of Polish historical reason. This case is not about hostility towards contemporary Ukrainians. It is about the fact about crime, the right of families to graves, and the fundamental continuity of a state that does not abandon its own citizens even after decades.
In fresh months, the subject of exploration has returned many times, including in exhumations in Ostrówków and Wola Ostrowiecka. The creation of a separate unit can aid if the name is followed by resources, efficient decisions and consistent discussions with partners in Ukraine. However, the origin does not mention the size of the department, nor the budget, nor the timetable for subsequent work. These particulars must now be required.
The results count, not the sign
Polish historical memory has depended besides long on the immediate political will and pace of abroad agreements. The Department should guarantee continuity of activities regardless of the political downturn. Clear objectives, regular public information and cooperation between state institutions are needed.
The very creation of the unit is an organizational step, not the finale of the case. For Poles, it is at stake to regain the names of victims, worthy of graves and fact entered into relations with Ukraine. The hotel will be assessed after how many murdered can be found and buried, not after the number of fresh signs on the ministerial door.
