This means a leap in the funds allocated to bonuses in this institution, which raises considerable controversy and raises questions about staff policy and wage at the Chancellery of the Sejm.
The year 2023, erstwhile the talker of the Sejm was Elizabeth Witek, was highly sparing in this respect. In the first half of the year, only 57 awards were awarded, which totaled PLN 167,4 thousand. The average value of the award was PLN 2936.69 gross. Moreover, these awards did not go to members of the Bureau of the Sejm or to the management of the office, but only to the lower level of officials.
In 2024 the situation was completely different. According to the Media Service Office of the Sejm, as many as 514 awards were paid for the full amount of PLN 3.6 million gross. The average bonus increased to PLN 7 thousand, which represents a crucial increase compared to the erstwhile year. As in 2023, bonuses did not go to the highest positions, but only to lower-level workers.
Premiums alternatively of increases
The increase in premium expenditure is linked to the decision not to rise the staff of the Chancellery of the Sejm. Initially, it was planned that workers would receive increases of 7.7%, corresponding to an increase in wages across the budget.
After the election, however, the ruling coalition decided to rise 20% for budget workers, excluding the staff of the Sejm Chancellery from this group. In return, they were promised prizes, which explains the current increase in premium spending.
Planned increases at the Chancellery of the Sejm in 2025
According to the information obtained by the diary of Legal Newspaper, funds for wage increases of 4.1% are planned in the budget of the Chancellery of the Sejm for 2025. In comparison, PLN 16.5 million was allocated to the increase in wage throughout the budgetary sphere.
Additionally, Minister Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz from Poland 2050 plans to importantly increase salaries in the Supervisory Board of the National Property Resource. This institution, which is subject to the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy, was originally set up to implement a programme to build inexpensive housing for rent. Today, there are many people active with the Simon Holownia party, which raises further questions about the transparency of staff policy in state institutions.
