President Karol Nawrocki signed on 8 August a bill amending the rules on income taxation on individuals and respective another laws. The paper includes the introduction of a zero PIT for families raising at least 2 children.
Nawrocki's bill – Poles would gain an additional 1000 PLN per second child
The fresh regulations are intended to rise the taxation threshold from the current PLN 120 1000 to PLN 140 1000 per spouse. As estimated by the President's Office, this solution would let the average household to keep in the home budget an average of about PLN 1,000 per month.
– I will proceed to repeat that Polish families can number on the support of the Polish President, and the release from the PIT of parents of 2 and more children is not only my promise, but besides my work towards the continuation of Poland and the independency of the Polish state – Nawrocki said about this.
The law would cover taxpayers exercising parental authority, legal guardians (subject to their common residence with the child), foster families and persons carrying out maintenance obligations towards adult learning children.
Such conditions will should be fulfilled if the law enters into force
The number of children would include both minors and adults with a disability or learning decision up to the age of 25. There is besides an exception – children in institutions providing a 24-hour maintenance and married couples would not be covered by that law.
Families (if the regulations come into force) will only benefit from fresh taxation exemptions in 2026. The bill signed by Karol Nawrocki must, however, be sent to the Sejm early and the full legislative way awaits him.
Currently, there is already a 800 plus programme in Poland, which aims to support families. This is simply a social benefit for families raising children. Each kid in the household receives PLN 800 all month, regardless of their parents' income.
