Ukraine is pushing the European Union to importantly tighten sanctions against Russia by proposing to take over Russian assets and impose restrictions on oil merchants. This proposal arises in the face of increasing uncertainty about the United States' engagement in sanctions policy and calls on the EU to adopt a "more aggressive and independent stance".
