Military Institute of Engineering Technology, Niewiadów Polska Grupa Militarna and belonging to the company The Institute of Precision Equipment of Niewiadów will develop, manufacture and distribute modern anti-personnel mines. Ultimately, it is assumed that up to 1 million units per year will be produced in consequence to the increasing needs associated with the modernisation of the army and the securing of borders.

Company PGM blinds 2 strategical cooperation agreements with the Military Institute of Engineering Technology (WITI) have been signed by the Institute of Precision Equipment (ZSP). The agreements concern the joint development, production and distribution of modern anti-personnel mines MOD-26, i.e. the extraction action, and MND-26 – about the force action. “The signing of contracts with WITI is the foundation of building national capabilities in the area of engineering resources essential for the implementation of the “Tarcza East” programme,” said Adam Januszko, president of Niewiadów PGM.
This cooperation, as president Januszko stressed, is simply a combination of investigation competences of the military investigation institute with manufacturing facilities and engineering experience of private companies, thanks to which the Polish Army will gain modern solutions responding to safety challenges on the east flank of NATO.
In line with the division of WITI competences, it will be liable for the R & D part, including the preparation of method documentation and test models and the implementation of plant and polygon research. In contrast, Niewiadów ZSP will take care of prototypes, production documentation, serial production and distribution of finished products. The cooperation is planned for 10 years, and the settlement model assumes a commission strategy based on future product sales.

According to the plans of the PGM Blinds, the readiness to start mass production of fresh mines is to be achieved in the 4th fourth of 2026. The mark capacity of the plant is to be up to a million units per year. The company from Niewiadow underlines that the scale of the task responds to the increasing needs of the Armed Forces Agency, related to the modernisation of the armed forces and the border safety programme.
Let us remind you that with the beginning process of Poland's termination of the Ottawa Convention (international treaty prohibiting the use, production and retention anti-personnel mines) The Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces Agency began preparations to rebuild anti-personnel mines capabilities. According to the published assumptions, the military plans to get by 2028 more than 16 million min of different types – including directional, jumping, surface and force – as part of strengthening the border defence strategy and the programme “The Tartar East”. The defence ministry justifies these actions to the situation on the east NATO flank and experiences of the war in Ukraine, stressing the request to rebuild the engineering capabilities of the Polish Army.
