From the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022 to February 2025, The Czech Republic has provided Ukraine with military aid worth over 7 billion kronor. In return, she received American helicopters and German Leopard tanks.

"The combined book value of military equipment remaining under the supervision of the Ministry of Defence, which has been transferred to Ukraine since 24 February 2022, is CZK 7.3 billion," the Czech Ministry of Defence reported. The equipment transferred includes dense military equipment, air weapons, firearms, grenades and ammunition.

The Czech Ministry of Defence emptied military magazines, passing Ukraine a smooth, though outdated weapon and ammunition. The vast majority was Czechoslovakian production from the times of socialism. More than 30,000 Model 82 pistols, 5 1000 Model 58 rifles, over 2,000 legendary Model 61 Scorpion device guns and 3,200 Model 59 guns were among the resources transferred. The list besides included dozens of russian Dragunow sniper rifles, Czech Falcons, as well as nearly 4 million ammunition pieces for the mentioned weapons.

In addition to weapons from erstwhile decades, the Czech Republic besides donated modern equipment to Ukraine, including 132 assault rifles CZ 807 Bren 5.56 mm caliber and 70 device guns CZ Scorpion EVO – a weapon presently on the standard equipment of the Czech army.

In its responses under the Public Information Act, the Czech Ministry of Defence reported that the value of military equipment received as compensation importantly outweighs the value of the arms transferred to Ukraine. "The value of the acquisition of military equipment received as compensation is 19.2 billion kronor", says the Ministry.

The list included, among others, older Leopard 2A4 tanks from Germany and an American donation of $325 million (about 7.3 billion kronor), intended to acquisition or upgrade military equipment originating exclusively from the United States. In addition, by 2027 the Czech Republic is expected to receive a further 2 billion crowns from the European Union budget.

Twelve U.S. H1 helicopters were besides included. However, 3 years ago, shortly after the outbreak of the war, defence minister Jan Černochová announced that the Czech Republic would receive 8 specified machines – six AH-1Z Viper assault helicopters and 2 UH-1Y Venom multi-tasks. This information was besides confirmed by the spokesperson of the Czech army, Karel Čapek, indicating that the first number was the consequence of an mistake – in fact, there would be 8 helicopters.

The Ministry of Defence besides claims that H1 helicopters are already in Czech territory.

The vast majority of the military support presently provided by the Czech Republic to Ukraine comes from the alleged ammunition initiative, implemented in cooperation with another European countries. As Minister Jan Černochová pointed out, in 2025 a billion crowns were allocated from the Czech budget.

It is worth recalling that in the past year the Czech Republic, with the support of allies, mediated in the transportation of about 1.5 million pieces of artillery ammunition of various calibers. By the end of April this year, this figure increased by another 400,000.

The Czech Republic continues to supply ammunition, but they are incapable to hand over heavier equipment to Ukraine, specified as tanks or combat infantry wagons – they simply do not have specified resources. "There are not many elements of military equipment that we could inactive pass on to Ukraine", said Minister Černochová.
