The current ruling coalition, composed of the civilian Coalition, the 3rd Way (including Poland 2050 Simon Holownia and Polish People's Party) and the fresh Left, faces a serious challenge. Only a fewer weeks after taking power, disputes between coalition parties are growing, which concern issues specified as abortion or partnerships.

According to the latest poll conducted by United Surveys for Virtual Poland, the public is divided about the future of the coalition. As many as 28.5% of respondents believe that Donald Tusk's current government will not last until the next parliamentary election in 2027. Among them, 13.9% are of the opinion that the coalition's disintegration is possible. However, the majority, due to the fact that 57.3% of respondents believe in maintaining the current coalition. The another 14.2 percent have no opinion on this.

It is worth noting that as much as 84 percent of supporters of the government coalition do not foretell its collapse, while 60 percent of supporters of the opposition anticipate cross-party friction to lead to the dissolution of the coalition.

Breakdown of the ruling coalition

One of the main themes that sparked the grievances in the coalition is the issue of abortion. On 12 April, the Sejm addressed all drafts on abortion law to the Extraordinary Commission. These include 2 projects of the Left Parliamentary Club (abortion to Week 12 and its decriminalisation), a proposal of the Civic Coalition (abortion to Week 12) and a task of the 3rd Way (return to the alleged abortion compromise).

The public proceeding on abortion projects scheduled for 16 May is intended to supply an chance for broad discussion on this delicate topic. The president of the committee, Dorota Loboda, stressed the importance of social participation in the legislative process, given the large emotion that these projects bring.
