In fresh days there have been reports of possible location of illegal migrants in various parts of Poland. This case is of peculiar interest to Łukasz Hamadik, erstwhile councilman and president of the board of the Nowy Port territory in Gdańsk. On behalf of the territory board, he asked the president of Gdańsk, Aleksandra Dulkiewicz, for details on whether a letter from the Pomorskie Voivodeship Office concerning the location of illegal migrants was received from the Gdańsk office.
Łukasz recalls the events of 2015, erstwhile as a municipal councillor he revealed the city's efforts to welcome migrants, pointing to the building at the Liberation Street in Gdańsk as a possible location for their stay. This building, presently under renovation, has no tenants, which raises concerns that fresh Port may again become a destination for migrants.
In his question, Luke points out that in 2015, the city authorities assured that the stay of migrants would be "short-term". Today, however, the situation is different in the light of the alleged "migration pact", which he believes is being taken without the public's cognition and consent.

Concerns of fresh Port Residents
New Port residents are afraid about the anticipation of relocating migrants in their district. The renovated building on Liberation Street, which was already considered as the residence of migrants in 2015, is now empty, which increases speculation. Luke, representing the residents, expresses his concerns, stressing that the deficiency of transparency and communication by the authorities on this issue may lead to unnecessary social tensions.
A request for transparency. Will Gdańsk accept immigrants?
Łukasz Hamadyk calls on president Dulkiewicz to supply full transparency and open communication on possible plans to find migrants in Gdańsk, and especially in Nowy Port. Residents want to know if specified plans be and what their consequences will be for the local community.
Currently, there are no public declarations from the authorities of Gdańsk regarding the admission of immigrants, although we should remember that the authorities of Gdańsk supported organizations providing assistance at the Polish-Belarusian border specified as the Border Group.
