During the Thursday NATO summit in Washington, D.C., US president Joe Biden accidentally named the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenski, “President Putin”. This setback sparked confusion among the assembled and exacerbated criticism from Democratic organization members who increasingly urge 81-year-old Biden to retreat from the race for re-election.

Emmanuel Macron: Sometimes we're all wrong

Biden's mistakes are increasingly the subject of questions to another leaders present at the summit, but their answers are usually supportive.

French president Emmanuel Macron said:

The accident occurred just before the long-awaited press conference, at which Biden intends to calm the concerns of his organization associates, regarding his ability to defeat Donald Trump in the November elections and to hold office for another four-year term.

So far 13 of the 213 Democrats in the home of Representatives and 1 of the 51 Democrats in the legislature have publically called on the president to retreat from the race. Biden's run has been in a hard position for 2 weeks, since his mediocre performance in the debate against Donald Trump, his 78-year-old rival with the Republican Party.

More Democrats urge the president to resign from re-election

Prior to the press conference, 4 more home of Representatives Democrats called on Biden to end the campaign: Brad Schneider of Illinois, Greg Stanton of Arizona, Ed Case of Hawaii, and Hillary Scholten of Michigan.

"For the sake of our country, it is time for the president to hand over the baton to a fresh generation of leaders," Stanton said in a prepared statement.

The fresh York Times reported that any longtime advisors are considering ways to convince Biden to resign from re-election, while NBC News reported that any run staff members believe that he has no chance of winning the election.

Survey

The Reuters/Ipsos survey published last week revealed that Biden and Trump had 40% of their support. another public polls have shown Trump to increase his advantage over Biden, and any strategists have warned that Trump has a chance to win in traditionally democratic states specified as fresh Hampshire and Minnesota.
