North Korea sent 28,000 arms containers to Russia

North Korea has sent over 28,000 ammunition and weapons containers to Russia, supporting Russian war effort in Ukraine. According to South Korea's defensive intelligence agency, Pyongyang caters for up to 40 percent of Russian ammunition demand. Since October last year, North Korea has besides sent any 13,000 troops to support Moscow. In return, Russia provides North Korea with money and technology to aid ease the global isolation of the country.

The Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) of the South Korean Ministry of Defence presented estimates on Sunday of the scale of North Korean support to Russia. According to the DIA, authorities in Pyongyang have so far sent over 28,000 ammunition and weapons containers to Russia.

"North Korea continues to supply arms to Russia" - assessed the DIA in consequence to the question of MP Kang De Szik from the South Korean Parliament. Seoul, in collaboration with allies, "permanently evaluates the scale of this support".

Thousands of soldiers support Moscow

In June, an intelligence agency in Seoul predicted that North Korea would send additional troops to Russia in July or August. Russian media reported plans to send 5 1000 military construction workers and a 1000 bomb squads to the bordering Kursk Oblast with Ukraine.

North Korean specialists would support engineering work in this strategical region. These plans show an expanding scale of military cooperation between Pyongyang and Moscow.

Russian support in return

In return, Russia provides North Korea with money and technology to aid ease the global isolation of the country. A fresh visit by the head of Russian diplomacy Sergei Lavrov in Pjongjang was to confirm Pjongjang's clear support for the Russian war in Ukraine.
