Noida and Navi Mumbai Airports New Flights

Jolly Grant Airport (DED) in Dehradun is preparing for a major expansion in its flight network, with direct flights expected to commence to Noida International Airport (Jewar-DXN) and Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA).

These new flights routes are pending final approvals from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Airports Authority of India (AAI), but operations are anticipated to begin in the upcoming winter schedule.

Air India Express (IX) is set to become the fifth carrier operating from Dehradun. The airline will introduce new flights connecting Dehradun to Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Navi Mumbai, and Jewar, significantly strengthening domestic connectivity in Northern India.

The current roster at Dehradun Airport includes IndiGo (6E), Air India (AI), SpiceJet (SG), and Alliance Air (9I), which together operate more than 12 daily flights.

Both Jewar and Navi Mumbai airports are nearing the operational phase. Jewar Airport (DXN), positioned to become Asia’s largest in terms of size, is expected to launch domestic services from September 29.

Navi Mumbai Airport (NMIA) is scheduled to follow closely with operations beginning September 30. International flights from both airports are planned at a later stage.

Direct Flights From Bhopal

Bhopal (BHO) will also see improved connectivity with the upcoming launch of direct flights to Jewar (DXN) and Navi Mumbai (NMIA).

IndiGo and Air India Express have submitted slot requests for these routes, aiming to initiate operations with the winter schedule starting at the end of October.

The new additions will not only link Bhopal with the two mega airports but will also enhance access to other cities such as Bengaluru, Goa, Kolkata, and Lucknow.

IndiGo has shown interest in reviving previously discontinued routes, and the Airport Authority has reportedly approved the required slots.

Future Outlook

The winter schedule is expected to significantly improve connectivity between Tier-2 cities and major aviation hubs.

Smaller cities in Madhya Pradesh such as Rewa, Satna, and Datia are slated to benefit from the Udan scheme.

Fly Big and Alliance Air are both preparing to increase the frequency of regional flights, particularly to Rewa and Indore.

This regional development aligns with the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance aviation access across underserved regions.

The operationalization of Jewar and Navi Mumbai airports, along with the active participation of budget carriers, is expected to ease travel for passengers who currently face limitations in direct connectivity.
