Child rights spokesperson Monika Horna-Cieślak demands that the owner of the Pszczyńska ice cream store Pod Dęb to end up with a 25-year-old tradition. For many years, the place has been giving free ice cream to children who at the end of the school year received a certificate with a red belt.

For many students from Pszczyna, the graduation of the school year for years active not only the beginning of the holiday, but besides a visit to the ice cream store Pod Debem. For about 25 years, children who had received a certificate with a red stripe could number on free ice cream there.


- My husband started the operation about 25 years ago. Then I continued it. On that day the children came with a testimony, I personally congratulated everyone and offered them free ice. The owners provided information on the termination of the action on social media. They informed that they had received a registered letter from the Ombudsman for the Rights of the kid and would so not be able to proceed the initiative.

"We are so forced to end the tradition which was initiated by the founder of the ice cream shop, the late Tadeusz Nolas. all year we distributed respective 100 free ice cream on that day" - it was written in a statement.


At the same time, the owners stressed that they were inactive inviting students, parents and residents to celebrate the graduation of the school year together.

According to the Office of the Ombudsman for the Rights of the Child, promotion or social actions that make awards dependent on academic outcomes can lead to negative social impacts.
