Britain lost its capacity to produce in its own artillery barrel manufacture many years ago. In view of the request for permanent military assistance to Ukraine and the desire to re-engage the military production facilities in the country, the political decision-makers there are taking further steps to reconstruct the lost capacity. An example of this is the signing of a Defence Cooperation Agreement by the UK and Germany at the end of October, covering, among others, the anticipation of resuming barrel production in the first country, for which a bilateral implementing paper is needed, which is not due until 2025.
