The president of the United States chooses a dialog with Russian president Vladimir Putin, who has been suppressing democratic freedoms in his country for years. At the same time, it undermines the principles of cooperation with NATO and European Union allies. The fact that president Donald Trump, who is listening to and reading millions of people all over the world, is spreading false information raises our objections.

The war in Ukraine should never have happened, it took on many lives, caused besides much suffering and destruction. It is not actual that Ukraine or Europeans caused it. Only Vladimir Putin, who thinks about global relations in the category of spheres of influence he sees in independent and democratic Ukraine threat to specified a convenient position quo for him and Russian oligarchs in Russia.

The war in Ukraine should end. However, it should end at specified a time and under specified conditions as the Ukrainians are prepared to accept, the main victims of this barbarity as president Trump is talking about. The contained area should indicate who the aggressor was and not let Putin gain time and strength to attack again. Ukrainians and another Europeans should participate in peace negotiations alongside Russia and the US to guarantee this.

President Putin should not return to the economical cycle, to "business as usual" and to global salons the next day after signing a ceasefire, giving no evidence that he besides cares for lasting peace.

We appeal to Polish and European leaders not only in words but besides in actions to support Ukraine at this crucial moment. All the more so, due to the fact that we are aware that in a fewer years' time the endurance of Ukraine may be at stake, but besides the freedom of Lithuanians, Estonians, Latvians and Poles.

As he wrote, 70 years ago, Robert Schuman in “For Europe”:

"Europe can no longer be a geographical set of countries placed side by side, besides frequently opposed. Instead, it should become a community of different nations, but associated in 1 defensive and creative effort. This is not about any temporary cure, designed to remedy utmost danger, nor filling the breach in danger of collapse of the border. It should become an effective one, aware of interior diversity. Knowing its needs and possibilities, it must organise itself in a planet that ceases to be a formless and inert mass, awakened only by occasional conflicts."
