Three weeks – so much time has been left until the end of the collection of signatures for a referendum to cancel the city authorities in Warsaw. So far about 82 1000 signatures have been collected - informed the initiator of the action Maciej Wilk.
However, this figure will surely increase. By Sunday, 11 districts are expected to receive a full of 400,000 referendum cards. Their distribution is already ongoing, and the first completed forms return to the organizers. Addresses were selected on the basis of an analysis of electoral results from individual committees – the action can bring up to 40,000 more signatures.
Parallel volunteers conduct a gathering on the streets of Warsaw. Another 15,000 cards went to people who declared their willingness to collect signatures themselves among family, friends or neighbors. The organizers besides emphasize that fresh environments and organisations are joining the action.
In order for the referendum to be convened, it is essential to support about 132 1000 Warsaw voters, or 10% of those entitled to vote.
