On 12 September 2024, Andrzej Pecka, 1 of the 100 founders of the Polish organization 2050 Szymon Hołownia (PL2050SH) and erstwhile presidential candidate of Gdańsk, announced his resignation as a organization member. The decision is motivated by a number of allegations concerning interior activities in the organisation and how it is managed. In his statement, he publically urges Simon Holovnia to reflect profoundly on the direction in which the organization is heading.
One of the key reasons for Pecka's resignation is the threats to be associated with the criminal planet in Gdańsk. As he claims, these serious allegations were underestimated by the party's peer court, which considered them a joke. Additionally, the individual suspended in the rights of a organization associate was secretly supported in the competition for the exposed position. In Pecka’s view, this behaviour shows a deficiency of work and promotion of unethical actions.
No support for Holown and controversy around Agnieszka Buczyńska
Andrzej Pecka does not hide the disappointment of the deficiency of support from the organization leader, Szymon Holown, during his candidacy for president of Gdańsk. Additionally, it points to the inconsistent actions of Agnieszka Buczyńska, the party's ministers. According to Pecka, Buczyńska first supported his candidacy to then retreat this support, supporting the association candidate Everything for Gdańsk.
Consequently, according to Pecka, this contributed to the defeat of Marcin Zabojsz, a organization colleague, in the election to the City Council of Gdańsk. Pecka considers these actions to be political corruption, as defined by Transparency International, and suggests that the Polish 2050 organization may be dependent on WDG.
Opposition to "old policy"
In his statement, Pecka stresses that he did not intend to be part of the "concessionary opposition" towards the ruling political power in Gdańsk for years. He expresses his disappointment that the organization he co-founded does not meet the promises of a new, fair policy. Pecka points out that the commitments to the coalition at which he was headed required him to be honest and to fight reasonably – values which he believes are no longer respected in PL2050SH.
Andrzej Pecka: protectorate and violation of the statute
Pecka besides disagrees with the patronising treatment of the Management Board of the Pomeranian Region by Agnieszka Buczyńska and Agnieszka Baranowska, who, according to him, push decisions contrary to the party's statutes. He claims that specified decisions are brought “in a folder” and organization members leave its ranks or return “without mode”, which violates democratic principles. specified actions are evidence for him to play the old political model, with which PL2050SH was to fight.
Frustration in the movement ranks
Andrzej Pecka notes that the increasing frustration among organization members and volunteers, especially in the Pomeranian region, is worrying. It indicates that more and more people are leaving traffic due to disappointment with management methods and deficiency of transparency. However, despite these problems, Pecka stresses that there are people in the organization who believe in its first values and work to aid those in need. He hopes that Simon Holovnia will not forget those who were willing to follow him into the fire.
A crisis of trust
Andrzej Pecka's resignation from his membership of Poland 2050 Szymon Hołownia is simply a clear signal that the organization is experiencing a crisis of trust and division among key characters. Pecka accuses the organization of being irresponsible, political corruption and the usage of old, undemocratic methods. His message calls for a deep reflection on the future of the movement, which aimed at introducing a fresh quality in Polish politics.
