On Monday, Mateusz Kotecki, Minister at the Chancellery of the president of the Republic of Poland, informed about the decision of the head of state:
President Karol Nawrocki made 3 provisions in connection with the application of the law of grace. In accordance with Article 144 of the Constitution, the law of grace falls within the presidential prerogative which does not require a countersignate of the Prime Minister. The law of grace is simply a presidential prerogative which cannot be controlled. The President, erstwhile making his decision, shall take note of all the documentation concerning the convicted person, including the case files, the judgement and his justification. It besides examines the lawyer General's application, the court's opinion and environmental opinion. Convicted applicants for pardon must meet 1 of respective conditions.
Adam Borowski
