Accusations of slander

PiS MP Andrzej Śliwka reported during a press conference before the territory Court in Warsaw that Karol Nawrocki, through his attorneys, filed a suit for the protection of individual property in connection with the content of articles he considered to be lying and slanderous. In addition, he announced a private indictment.

However, he resigned from the electoral procedure, which would let a quicker settlement of the case. Donald Tusk, among others, encouraged this path, but the candidate did not address this proposition and avoided answering questions from journalists about this decision.

Nawrocki's Dark Past

On Monday's Onetu article there were allegations that Karol Nawrocki, working as a safety defender at the Sopot Grand Hotel, was to participate in organizing social services for the guests of the facility. This information was to come from his erstwhile colleagues with whom the portal interviewed. These sources, for fear of their safety, chose to stay anonymous, but assured that they were ready to confirm their relation with the court.

In turn, editor-in-chief of Onetu, Bartosz Węgielarczyk, stated:

This is 1 of the strangest electoral campaigns in the past of the 3rd Republic. On 1 side we have a man whose views can be liked or not, but about whom we know very, very much, due to the fact that he has been present in politics for decades. On the another side, we have a candidate we know almost nothing about. The function of the media in democracy is crucial in this situation.

He stressed that the function of the media is to uncover as many unknown facts as possible concerning Karol Nawrocki. He pointed out that the disclosed information, including 1 of the biggest secrets of the PiS candidate, had been the subject of speculation for any time, besides in the circles of his own political camp. He pointed out that the publication was not intended to influence voters' decisions, but was based on a journalistic work to inform the public in order to enable informed decision-making at urns.
