Radosław Sikorski announced that NATO abroad ministers had decided to "create NATO mission". The head of Polish diplomacy stressed that the goal is not to engage in war activities, but to usage the resources of the North Atlantic Alliance in a more harmonised way, for example by making better usage of planning and training capabilities.

Thursday, during the NATO abroad Ministers gathering in Brussels, a proposal was discussed by North Atlantic Alliance Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, who had previously proposed the creation of a $100 billion fund for Ukraine over 5 years. According to Bloomberg's information, NATO would take over, among another things, the US's operational responsibilities within the Ukraine Defence Contact Group, which coordinates arms shipments to the country. The Agency claimed that specified an initiative would aim to defend against possible political changes following the November presidential elections in the US. The final decision on this substance would be taken at the July summit of the North Atlantic Alliance in Washington.

At the end of the ministerial meeting, Radosław Sikorski expressed his support for this "worthy initiative". Emphasizing the importance of the multi-annual support programme, he pointed out that NATO associate States are 20 times richer than Russia.

"And if necessary, stand [us – ed.] for a long-term conflict" – he said.

Sikorski stressed that the sum of $100 billion represents a crucial amount of money and is an crucial political signal.

"If we are to put justice on it, in proportion to GDP, the substance is worth considering. As happens among allies, not everyone agrees immediately, but we get the positions. I consider it a valuable initiative" said the head of the Polish Ministry of abroad Affairs.

We have decided to establish a NATO mission. This does not mean that we are entering the war, but that we will now be able to usage the Alliance's coordination, training, planning ability to support in a more coordinated way.

The Minister of abroad Affairs was asked about the assessment of the thought of creating a fund and the enhanced function of NATO in coordinating support and training for Ukraine as a kind of "preventive effort" and trying to defend itself against possible political changes in the United States, in the event of Donald Trump's triumph in the presidential election.

‘Not that I know of’ Sikorski answered briefly.

Mr Sikorski explained that during the meeting, ministers had "decided to establish a Natovian mission" in the context of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

"This does not mean that we are entering the war, but it means that we will now be able to usage the coordinating, training, planning capabilities of the North Atlantic Alliance to support Ukraine in a more coordinated way" – stressed Radosław Sikorski.

When asked about the advancement of the bilateral agreement on cooperation in the field of security, the Minister confirmed that the work on specified an agreement between Poland and Ukraine is already rather advanced, but the date of signing has not yet been established.

We're like the same thing. Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that Poland does not plan to engage straight in the fight in Ukraine. The Prime Minister mentioned that he discussed Poland's position on this issue with French president Emmanuel Macron and US president Joe Biden.

It is worth recalling that the day before U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced that the current U.S. administration excludes the deployment of US troops into Ukraine.

How much these assurances mean in the face of the information provided by Sikorski, everyone must measure themselves. However, it should be remembered that the elites from the Polish government and their families are protected from possible going to the Ukrainian front. It is only a pity that you do not announcement that there are Ukrainian deserters of draft age all over the world, who do not someway wash over the destiny of their “home”.

Flash reaction of the Kremlin

Russia immediately reacted to the words of the head of the abroad Ministry. – Creating a NATO mission in Ukraine could mean legalising the next steps, Russia will monitor them closely," said RIA Novosti Andrei Carthapoil, Head of the Defence Committee of State Duma.
