This decision is part of a strategy to modernise the armed forces and adapt their capabilities to the changing geopolitical situation in the region.

NATO strengthens the safety of the east flank. There's a fresh plan.

The head of the MON informed about the adoption of the initiative after the gathering of the national defence ministers of the European Union.

– We talked about the ability of the North Atlantic Alliance. Very good information – a plan is adopted to increase responsiveness. It was not easy, until the last minute negotiations were ongoing – Kosiniak-Kamish said.

Adopting the plan means expanding the capabilities of the NATO Alliance to respond rapidly to possible threats.

– This means expanding the anticipation of protection, especially of the east flank of NATO, especially Poland, by all the allies", said the head of the MON.

This plan provides, among another things, for strengthening military presence at the east borders of the Alliance and improving mechanisms for fast deployment of forces in the event of a threat.

New Baltic defender mission

Defence Ministers besides approved the establishment of a fresh mission Guards The Baltic to defend critical infrastructure in the Baltic Sea region. Deputy Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz stressed that the mission would affect not only Baltic states but besides another allied countries:

"This mission has been activated by the commander-in-chief, by the secretary-general, and present we have heard a declaration that not only the states lying on the Baltic but besides France, Belgium, our another allies will be active in protecting critical infrastructure, preventing incidents related to breaches, breaking cables."

Expenditure on arms and investment in defence industry

The gathering besides addressed the issue of expanding defence spending. Deputy Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamish pointed out the request to invest in the arms industry:

"Without increased spending, no plans, no ambitious plans, our strategical objectives will never be achieved, will never be organised, and the strategical nonsubjective of deterrence and defence has not been achieved. Europe must do this lesson."

Kosiniak-Kamysz besides stressed the request for investment of EUR 500 billion in the European defence manufacture to guarantee that strategical safety objectives are met.
