Best architectural projects in Gdańsk

In the 4th edition of the competition for the best architectural performance in Gdańsk six awards were awarded in 4 categories. The most interesting structures were awarded, which were created between 2020 and 2021.

The competition is held all 2 years, and its organizer is the City of Gdańsk and the Association of Polish Architects Coast Branch. In this edition, 9 objects in 4 categories were nominated for the award. 5 awards and 1 peculiar award were awarded.

Special Prize

A peculiar award in the category of public objects with interestingly designed interiors was awarded to the adaptation of the Amber Museum. The museum, opened last year, is located at 16 Wielkie Młyny Street. The adaptation of the Grand Mill to museum functions was commissioned by the Museum of Gdańsk. Contractor INTEGRA sp. z o. o. and INTERPLASTIC Roger Żółtowski; adaptation task Ksenia Piątkowska; exhibition task Anna Bocek Mirosław Majkowski.

Infrastructure facilities

In this category, the award was awarded to the St. Spirit's Place, a rotating footbridge on Old Motlava. Investor: Granaria improvement Gdańsk sp. z o.o.; contractor Multibud Management sp. z o.o.; task Studio Bednarski Ltd and Europrojekt Gdańsk SAN.

Cubature objects

The prize was awarded to the Gato office building at Norwida 1. Investor and contractor HOSSA SA Investment Group; task Marcin Woyciechowski, Tomasz Piechota, Radosław Orłowski

Three Awards for Revalorized Objects

Three awards were awarded in the category of reconstructed objects. The Uphagena Arche Gdańsk Manor was awarded at 1 prof. Kieturakisa Street – adaptation of the erstwhile infirmary squad to the hotel. Investor and contractor Arche SA; task Piotr Grochowski with the band little is core.

The hydromechanic building at 11/12 Gabriela Narutowicza Street was besides distinguished – adaptation of the historical campus building of Gdańsk University of Technology. Investor of Gdańsk University of Technology; contractor of HARTUNA sp. z o. o.; home of home project.

The award was besides awarded to buildings at 2 Lastadia Street and 41 Lastadia Street – renovation of historical buildings. Investor of Gdańsk Wóże sp. z o. o.; contractor of POLAQUA sp. z o.o.; task of the Architectural-Building Company STYL sp. z o. o.

In July 2020 2 buildings at Lastadia Street were put into service – at No. 2 and 41 (picture No. 2, now the seat of Gdańsk Labour Office). The renovation of both historical buildings remained in the competition.

Plates on awarded buildings

In addition to the statues and diplomas, the winning teams besides received metallic plaques to be attached to the awarded objects, with engraved information about the investor, contractor and designers. Thanks to this, everyone visiting Gdańsk will learn the latest and most interesting buildings in the city.
