On 15 August, the president of the United States will meet with the Russian dictator. As Trump himself handed over on the fact Social platform, talks will take place in Alaska. On Wednesday he emphasized that there was a "big chance" that talks with Putin could shortly besides lead to the gathering of the Presidents of Russia and Ukraine.
At the same time, he warned that if Putin did not agree to end the war in Ukraine, "Russia will endure very serious consequences". The White home has issued an emergency announcement about the meeting, changes have occurred.
Trump's gathering with Putin moved
On Thursday, an advisor to Kremla Yuri Uszakov stated that Trump's gathering with Putin was to begin at around 11:30 a.m. local time (21:30 in Poland). The leaders are to discuss the "great, untapped potential" of Russian-American economical ties and prospects for ending the war in Ukraine.
However, according to the White home message quoted by Reuters, there was a slight change. The gathering will be held on Friday at 11:00 local time, which is at 21:00 in Poland.
Trump will leave the White home on Friday at 6:45 east time (12:45 Polish time) and return from Anchorage on the same day at 5:45 local time. The planned return to the White home will take place Saturday morning.
The US has suspended sanctions on Russia
As we wrote in NaTemat.pl, according to NBC station, the US Treasury Department issued a temporary licence abolishing a narrow scope of sanctions to let Russia to carry out the essential financial transactions related to the Alaska summit.
It is only about the actions essential to organise the summit. The licence does not include unlocking any frozen property under sanctions imposed after the invasion of Ukraine or another transactions not straight related to the meeting.
This limited suspension applies until 20 August.
