On the frieze under the first balcony of the Eiffel Tower, her creator had 72 names engraved by prominent French scientists, engineers and mathematicians, to whom the planet owed the advance of the industrial revolution. There is not a single female among them. Work is underway on the list of names of scientists to be added there.
