The disaster occurred on 21 July at 13:06 local time in the Uttara territory of Bangladesh's capital Dhaki. The F-7BGI was scheduled to execute the training flight, but crashed moments after launch. The reasons are not known yet, but given the age of machines of this type, which are the Chinese version of the russian MiG-21, and the fact that the aircraft was single-engined, a method malfunction is likely. The plane fell on the school and burned down, as did most of the building. The starting device was filled with fuel. At least 60 people are known to be injured on the ground, including 18 killed. quite a few people are burned.
