Music to support Ukraine. Waldemar Dąbrowski Initiative

Daily reports from the front about violent attacks, and at the same time a amazingly tiny number of killed and wounded, either attest to the concealment of the fact by both parties, or are a manifestation of media manipulations that we have not yet known. In those days, my aged aunt, born in Krzemieniec, died in Bydgoszcz, who preserved for life the terrible memories of the Volyn massacre and generously donated them to successive generations of members of our family.

People who remember this crime for natural reasons are inactive falling, and witnesses of many erstwhile Polish-Ukrainian conflicts have long been gone. So our glorious spontaneous support – after all – of the fellow nation before the brutal attack of another – little brother – became apparent to us, even though we were raised in the spirit of Polish-Soviet relationship in the times of the Polish People's Republic. Waldemar Dąbrowski, the theatre activist, the exceptionally skillful and operational Minister of Culture, and, above all, the long-standing manager of the Teatr Wielki in Warsaw, went to his amazing ingenuity and momentum. utilizing professional contacts with Peter Gelb, manager of the Metropolitan Opera in fresh York City, he initiated the creation of an organization of 74 prominent Ukrainian instrumentalists, who a year ago completed squad named the Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra.

It was headed by Keri-Lynn Wilson, Peter Gelb's private wife, but the conductor was outstanding, as I testified, due to the fact that I enjoyed her explanation a fewer years ago. Tones at the Vienna Opera. So don't grunt or fishy anything... The ancestors of this artist came to Canada from Ukraine. She was born in 1966 in Milwaukee in a musical family. Her career was led by conducting first by American orchestras, then performances of Verdi, Puccini, Tchaikovsky, Mozart, Wagner, Musorgski, Mascagni, Rossini and Gounod in the largest European opera theatres, including Düsseldorf, Munich, Paris, Verona, Milan, Florence, Moscow, Kiev and Petersburg. Despite her household ties, her debut at Metropolitan took place only a year before she stood at the conductor's desktop in front of the most hard score by Dmitri Szostakowicz Lady Macbeth of the Mceński County, What I like to call the title Catherine Ismajlova.

Thanks to the procedures of our National Opera and fresh York Metropolitan Keri- -Lynn Wilson received the best musicians from the Kiev and Kharkiv Opera, the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine and the Lviv Philharmonic. During last year's tour of Europe and the United States, 13 concerts were played for 32,000 listeners. Thus the Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra became a musical symbol of the conflict for freedom, and especially a valuable ambassador to the Ukrainian people towards the world's public. Recently, in August, after a series of trials at the Warsaw Grand Theatre and 2 concerts in Poland (unfortunately, in Gdańsk, there was no appropriate promotion and information!) the band performed in Hamburg, Amsterdam, Snape, Lucerna, Berlin and London, everywhere being accepted with extraordinary enthusiasm and manifestation of solidarity with Ukraine.

The program included an overture to Destination power Verdi, violin performance by Yevhen Stankov (modern Ukrainian composer) in the explanation of young Valery Sokolov and the 3rd Symphony "Eroica" by Beethoven. In Warsaw, alternatively of “Eroika”, the 9th Symphony was performed by the composer with an excellent quartet of Ukrainian singers and as usual sensational choir of the Opera and Philharmonic in Białystok. The honorary patronage over concerts in Poland was taken by our president Agat Kornhauser-Duda, and the European way was sponsored by Olena Zelenska, wife of the national hero of Ukraine. Astounded and delighted by this artistic and solidarity initiative, I wonder if it would be possible without the presence of – authoritative and discreet – at the rudders of Polish culture of our Waldemar Dąbrowski.
